about nest therapy

Nest Therapy connects you with Nicki, an individual, couple and family therapist.

Nicki holds a Bachelor of Social Work degree from the University of Sydney. Nicki continued her studies and gained her Master’s in Couples and Family Therapy from the  University of NSW. Nicki became a Credentialed Eating Disorder Clinician in 2022.

Apart from Nicki’s professional life, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three children, walking her cavoodle, doing yoga, and spending time with family and friends.

Nicki worked at Redbank House, a tertiary community child and family mental health program, for 9 years. Her experiences include working in the Child and Family Unit, Adolescent and Family unit, and Acute Adolescent Unit.

Nicki was hired by Relationships Australia, where she received additional training and worked with couples, adolescents, and families. Nicki began her practice at the Hills Clinic in Castle Hill before relocating to The Karinya Centre in Pymble. Nicki now has her own clinical office, Nest Therapy, in Wahroonga.

Nicki works with individuals, couples, and families with a kind, curious, and person-centred approach. She begins by evaluating the interplay of personality, family, societal, and contextual aspects rather than focusing solely on “diagnosis.” Nicki’s clients experience better insight, power, and hope within this paradigm.

Nicki is trained and competent in integrating multiple evidence-based modalities, with Bowen Family Systems theory as the core of her training, which emphasizes the importance of family of origin processes on our current functioning.

Nicki additionally incorporates skills from the evidence-based therapeutic approaches listed below:

  • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy
  • Cognitive Behaviour Therapy
  • Maudsley Family-Based Therapy for Eating Disorders
  • Gottman Method Couples Therapy
  • Mindfulness Strategies
  • Positive Parenting Programme Skills for Parents

In addition to working with individuals, couples, and families, Nicki is an Eating Disorders Credentialed Clinician specializing in Family-Based Therapy, the gold standard, evidence-based treatment of choice for children and adolescents.
