You do not require a referral to commence sessions.

You may however want to meet with your GP for assessment and referral to counselling under the Medicare Better Access initiative which will support you with a partial rebate for sessions for up to 10 sessions per calendar year.

Session fees are guided by the clinical training and experience of the therapist, along with recommendations set by the relevant professional association (see the AASW Schedule of Recommended Fees). Talk with your therapist about their scheduled fee prior to your first session.

Sessions are 50-60 minutes in duration.

Regular sessions (weekly to fortnightly) will support desired change more quickly.

Once gains are being made, sessions can be staggered until you reach the point of feeling confident to discontinue counselling support.

Your therapy time is respected by your therapist in the planning of her practice.

As such, we require 48 hours’ notice for any change in an appointment. This time enables your therapist to fill your session time with another client on the waitlist.

Late cancellations outside this notice period will incur a cancellation fee (the cost of the session).

All information you share with your therapist is confidential unless you share concern’s regarding someone’s safety.

Information sharing with other professionals, such as GP’s, psychiatrists, school counsellors and dieticians may be helpful in your treatment. In these situations, you will be asked to sign a ‘Release of Information’ form.

There are times when a file may need to be released by a court subpoena. You would always be informed if this were the case.

Nest Therapy is not able to provide crisis support. Your therapist will only be available for booked sessions only and will not be available for text/email communication between sessions.
